DISTRICT VISION

“Reaching and Achieving”

DISTRICT MISSION

Moffat Consolidated School District #2 exists so that our students have a safe learning environment with unique learning opportunities that prepare them for their future.

Our District

The Moffat Consolidated School District has a long history filled with change and distinction. Moffat school was founded in 1890 and school was conducted in a one room red brick building. Today, Moffat houses students from preschool through twelfth grade in a newly constructed (2015) state of the art building. Crestone Charter School houses students from preschool through twelfth grade in a newly constructed (2012) facility.

The Moffat Consolidated School District is located in the scenic San Luis Valley with majestic mountain vistas to the east and west, with the life giving wetlands and valley in between. Antelope, muledeer, elk, migrating birds and numerous other examples of wildlife and plant life are abundant. The opportunities to enjoy nature are endless and the area is an outdoor person’s paradise.

The Moffat Consolidated School District is extraordinary for a small rural district in meeting the needs of families from diverse backgrounds. The District is committed to providing a high quality education that prepares students for college, work and citizenship. The Moffat Consolidated School District encompasses approximately 577 square miles in the northern San Luis Valley. The district offers two campuses with unique learning opportunities to serve the school and community.

1. The Moffat School, a PK-12 school, offers child-centered learning in a traditional setting on a campus completed in 2015.

2. The Crestone Charter School, a K-12 school, offers a program based on proficiency-based learning on a campus completed in 2013.

Each campus has governing authority with the Moffat PreK-12 school governed by a five member school board that authorizes the Crestone Charter School which is governed by its own Governing Council.

The two district schools work together on many education related initiatives and coordinate programs, resources, and opportunities for students and staff such as athletics, transportation, and professional development.

While the two district schools have their own unique distinctions, they both add to the quality of a tremendous district.
