    Principal’s Report
    Moffat School – Michelle Hashbarger
    March 19, 2008
     
    February 20 – Tu Casa Presentations and Sex Education Presentations for Middle School and High School students.
     
    February 21 – The Knowledge Bowl students went to the competition in Alamosa. Once again they have qualified to go to the State Knowledge Bowl Competition in Colorado Springs in April. The National Honor Society inducted 5 new members. The had a nice ceremony and dinner for the new inductees and their parents. Mrs. Benton took the Seniors to TSJC for “Red Carpet” Day.
     
    February 25 – Colorado Reading First Regional Consultant Alan Dillon was in the building to discuss the discuss DIBELS data and our intervention student schedules.
     
    February 26 – Reading CSAP test for 3rd grade. Hashbarger attended the Professional Development Networking meeting at BOCES.
     
    February 27 – Last day for Tu Casa Presentations for the middle school and high school students. Reading CSAP test for 3rd grade. One student in the 3rd grade who was new to our school this year was not tested due to illness.
     
    February 28 -  Class pictures were taken this day. Mrs. Trujillo went to the CDE Special Education training at BOCES.
     
    March 3 – Snow Day (We will make up this day on Friday April 25th)
     
    March 4 – Hashbarger attended an Elementary Principals meeting at BOCES from 12:00 to 3:30pm.
     
    March 5 – Mr. Weaver attended an Athletic Directors meeting in Alamosa. Sandi Lockhart – Reading First Literacy Coach – spent some time with David B from CCS discussing DIBELS assessment information.
     
    March 6 – The Knowledge Bowl team went to the competition in Alamosa. The Freshman Carnival was held this evening from 4:30 to 6:30pm. Numerous students and parents enjoyed the games, cotton candy, face painting and food during the two hour event.
     
    March 7 – The Reading First Team held a Building Level Team meeting to look over the DIBELS data, make needed intervention schedule changes and to discuss Chapter 4 of our book study on “How the Brain Learns” by Sousa.
    March 10 – The CSAP window is open. The District Accountability Committee met to discuss the progress made towards our goals for this school year.
     
    March 11thCSAP testing began for students in 3rd through 10th grades. This will continue through the 20th of March. The Juniors are using the morning time to prep for the ACT test while the other students are taking the CSAP tests. The middle school students held a mini symposium this week after CSAP testing – each afternoon they had a special event to attend – Monday they had a Read-a-Thon day and Movies, Tuesday they went to Alamosa for a tour of the Adams State Campus, Wednesday they will be going Bowling in Alamosa and Thursday they will be heading to Del Norte to tour the Rio Grande Museum. The high school students are having a Symposium week as well…they are making Galimotos, cooking and learning about the origin of Pasta, learning about the 1960’s through various movies and working with Science Fiction through movies as well and Samba – by creating instruments and learning to play the songs. The high school students and teachers will showcase what they have learned through the week on Thursday March 13th at 2:00pm. Reading First Regional Consultant – Alan Dillon was in the building – he visited classrooms and spent the afternoon discussing data with Sandi and Michelle.

    March 26th – Federal Consolidated grant workshop in Pueblo continued, Sandi Lockhart at a Coach training in Del Norte
    March 28th – All School Ski Day at Monarch, Spring Break begins
