                                                                                                        STRUCTURE
     
    A committee is a board committee only if its existence and charge come from the board, regardless whether board members sit on the committee. The only board committees are those which are set forth in this policy or required by law. Unless otherwise stated, a committee ceases to exist as soon as its task is complete.
     
    BOARD COMMITTEES:
    1.District Advisory Accountability Committee
    a.Purpose:
    1)To make recommendations to the Board relative to the program of accountability
    2)To review the goals/objectives and plans of individual schools and make annual recommendations to the Board regarding procedures for implementation of the plans for inclusion in the district budget
    3)After consulting with school accountability committees, to make recommendations to the Board relative to priorities for expenditures of district funds.
    4)To provide consultation on adoption, revision and implementation of a district safe school plan.
    b.Membership (appointed by the Board): The Board will strive to have a balance of membership on the committee consistent with the district’s racial/ethnic proportions as follows:
    1)At least one parent
    2)One teacher
    3)One school administrator
    4)One taxpayer from the district
    c.Authority: Advisory to the Board.

    1. Public Positions Advisory Committee
    A.Product: Options and implications for board consideration with respect to any forthcoming board decisions regarding public positions—by no later than August 15, 2002.
     
    B.Authority: To incur costs of no more than $1,000 direct charges and no more than 50 hours of staff time.
     
    2. Legislative Change Advisory Committee
    A.Product: Options and implications for board consideration regarding long term legislative or regulatory effects to be achieved by the board—by no later than September 30, 2002.
     
    B.Authority: To incur costs of no more than $3,000 direct charges and no more than 70 hours of staff time.
    3. Nominating Committee
    A.Product: Properly screened potential board members—by no later than May 20 each year.
     
    B.Authority: To incur costs of no more than $1,000 direct charges and no more than 20 hours of staff time per annum.
     
    4. Audit Committee
    a.Product: Specification of scope of audit prior to outside audit—by no later than January 10 each year.
     
    b.Authority: To incur no more than $30,000 direct charges and use of no more than 50 person-hours staff time per annum.
