    Colorado Model Content Standards
    For Dance
    12th Grade Level Expectations
    STANDARD 1: Students will understand and demonstrate dance skills.
    GRADE 12
    This requires that the student:
    1.1 designs and teaches a progressive and effective dance warm-up
    1.2 integrates appropriate dance vocabulary in all classes and projects
    1.3 masters energy, dynamics and technical accuracy in a learned movement sequence
    1.4 adjusts to various dance styles, and to working with different choreographers
     
    STANDARD 2: Students will understand and apply the principles of choreography.
    GRADE 12
    This requires that the student:
    2.1 creates a self-directed dance
    2.2 creates a short dance with an awareness of the elements, aspects of form and the motivation or
    structure for the dance
     
    STANDARD 3: Students will create, communicate, and problem solve through dance.
    GRADE 12
    This requires that the student:
    3.1 evaluates the attempts of others to communicate an idea or ideas
     
    STANDARD 4: Students will understand and relate the role of dance in culture and history.
    GRADE 12
    This requires that the student:
    4.1 experiences a variety of dances from all over the world
    4.2 explores cultural dance opportunities in their own community outside of school
    4.3 presents a multi-media lecture-demonstration on a given culture and its dances
     
    STANDARD 5: Students will understand the benefits of dance for lifelong fitness.
    GRADE 12
    This requires that the student:
    5.1 designs a fitness program that will enhance their dance training, and improve on their weaknesses
    5.2 designs an outreach dance fitness program for another group in their community, i.e. senior citizens, differently abled
     
    STANDARD 6: Students will understand the relationships and connections between dance and other disciplines.
    GRADE 12
    This requires that the student:
    6.1 creates an interdisciplinary project that includes both technology and dance
