    For Dance
    11th Grade Level Expectations
    STANDARD 1: Students will understand and demonstrate dance skills.
    GRADE 11
    This requires that the student:
    1.1 develops more advanced technical abilities
    1.2 performs longer movement combinations and phrases
    1.3 recognizes and evaluates inaccuracies in the dance technique of others
    1.4 has a broader and more innovative movement vocabulary
    1.5 demonstrates a range of dynamics and movement qualities in 2 or more dance styles
    STANDARD 2: Students will understand and apply the principles of choreography.
    GRADE 11
    This requires that the student:
    2.1 creates a self-directed study
    2.2 applies his/her understanding of space, time and energy to a study
    2.3 creates a short dance combining a least 2 traditional forms
    2.4 designs a group improvisation on more than one theme, and selects material for a dance
    STANDARD 3: Students will create, communicate, and problem solve through dance.
    GRADE 11
    This requires that the student:
    3.1 directs others in communicating an idea or ideas effectively
    STANDARD 4: Students will understand and relate the role of dance in culture and history.
    GRADE 11
    This requires that the student:
    4.1 experiences a variety of dances from all over the world
    4.2 discusses how aesthetic judgments vary from culture to culture
    4.3 discusses how historical events in a culture influenced the dances of that culture
    STANDARD 5: Students will understand the benefits of dance for lifelong fitness.
    GRADE 11
    This requires that the student:
    5.1 explores cross-training methods in relation to dance
    5.2 predicts and compares changes in fitness levels based on cross-training
    5.3 evaluates various dance forms as a means of lifelong fitness
    STANDARD 6: Students will understand the relationships and connections between dance and other disciplines.
    GRADE 11
    This requires that the student:
    6.1 directs the dance portion of an interdisciplinary project in collaboration with other student directors
    6.2 does peer evaluation of a dance-based interdisciplinary project
    6.3 collaborates in a dance-based project that uses technology
